Live Action

These on-your-feet "live action" games are designed to be played by groups of players around large tables, on the floor, or in the case of the Midway game, across an entire conference room.  In some cases, these are 'giant sized' version of my print-and-play games.  If your interested in TTH hosting a game for your group (and you're in Rhode Island!), see the Contact page.

Sink The Bismarck!

Our "signature" game and a favorite with scout troops, sea cadets, school students, and youth groups, STB is designed for 2-30 players organized into crews controlling 2-6 battleships.  Played with large WW2 battleship models in any room with open floor space over 1-2 hours.

Battle of Trafalgar

Played annually at the Naval War College, Trafalgar is a play-on-the-floor game for up to 70 players controlling ships of the British Royal Navy or combined Franco-Spanish Fleet clashing in the 1805 battle.  You can download all the files needed to print, cut out, assemble and play your own on-the-floor game here.  An online hosted version is also available here.

Through Mud & Blood

The Battle of Amiens is a WW1 trench game played on a 4'x8' board.  Combat is resolved through the skillful throwing of pom-poms of different sizes.  If poison gas is deployed, your soldiers (and you!) get to fight in gas masks.

Jutland (on the floor)

Originally designed for the US Naval War College's 100th anniversary recognition of the battle, the game uses rules and equipment similar to those employed by war college students from 1905 to 1921.  The game was also played in London in 2018 (click here for the video).

Jutland (on the Table)

Based on Day of the Dreadnoughts from Junior General, this game was originally designed for history students at East Greenwich High School in Rhode Island as part of their WW1 studies.  A classic naval miniatures game played on a 4ft x 8ft hex map.

Battle of Midway

This large scale game can accommodate 80+ players in a variety of roles, from fighter pilot to fleet admiral.  Part hopscotch, part Battleship, there's something for every age and skill level.  Requires a conference room sized space and 2+ hours to play.
